The highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of Red, White & Royal Blue, the iconic New York Bestseller from Casey McQuiston, has received a release date and teaser poster.<\/p>\n
Launching 11 August on Prime Video, the film stars The Kissing Booth\u2019s Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz and Cinderella\u2019s Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry.<\/p>\n
The novel follows the story of Alex, the son of America\u2019s first female president (played by Uma Thurman, how camp!), and his complicated relationship with his royal counterpart across the pond.<\/p>\n
As per a synopsis from Amazon Prime Video: \u201cSeparated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn\u2019t really been an issue, until a disastrous\u2014and very public\u2014altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S.\/British relations at the worst possible time.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing into damage-control mode, their families and handlers force the two rivals into a staged \u201ctruce.\u201d But as Alex and Henry\u2019s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Produced by Greg Berlanti, Red, White & Royal Blue will also star Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, Ellie Bamber, Thomas Flynn, Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D Clarke, Aneesh Sheth, and Juan Castano.<\/p>\n
The film is set to be the directorial debut of Tony winner Matthew L\u00f3pez \u2013\u00a0who also wrote the screenplay for the film.<\/p>\n
Following the cast announcement last year, McQuiston expressed their excitement over the long-awaited adaptation in a\u00a0statement to Deadline.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a thrill to hand this story over to Berlanti\/Schechter, Amazon and our fearless leader Matthew L\u00f3pez and watch them make so many smart, bold, thoughtful choices to bring it to life,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Perez and Galitzine echoed similar sentiments in individual posts on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Galitzine added: \u201cSo pleased to be able to bring Henry to life in Casey McQuiston\u2019s Red, White & Royal Blue, led by the wonderful Matthew L\u00f3pez.\u201d<\/p>\n
