Taylor Zakhar Perez has opened up about the possibility of\u00a0Red, White and Royal Blue\u00a0becoming a trilogy.<\/p>\n

Back in August 2023, LGBTQIA+ movie enthusiasts were treated to the highly anticipated film adaptation of Casey McQuiston\u2019s acclaimed novel.<\/p>\n

Directed by Matthew Lopez, the Prime Video feature follows the passionate enemies-to-lovers romance between Alex (Zakhar Perez), the son of America\u2019s first female president (Uma Thurman), and Henry (Nicholas Galitzine), a British prince.<\/p>\n

Upon its release, the film received universal acclaim for its faithfulness to the source material and the electric chemistry between Zakhar Perez and Galitzine.<\/p>\n

Over the last few months, fans have called for Prime Video to greenlight a follow-up to\u00a0Red, White, and Royal Blue.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, on 9 May, L\u00f3pez and McQuiston officially announced that a sequel was on the way during\u00a0a fan screening of the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, there\u2019s gonna be a sequel,\u201d the American playwright exclaimed with the\u00a0Along For The Ride\u00a0author adding, \u201cMatthew and I are writing it together. That\u2019s all we can say.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prime Video also\u00a0released a teaser poster\u00a0to commemorate the news. A picture of a cake, referencing Henry and Alex\u2019s global scandal in the original, can be seen with decorations of a British and American flag, as well as a number \u201c2\u201d candle.<\/p>\n

While fans are still absorbing the exciting news, Zakhar Perez has already set his sights on the future of\u00a0Red, White, and Royal Blue beyond\u00a0the sequel.<\/p>\n

A day after the exciting news was announced, Zakhar Perez\u00a0exclusively\u00a0opened up to\u00a0Forbes\u00a0about all things\u00a0Red, White, & Royal Blue,\u00a0including how he\u00a0see\u2019s the story ending.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt could be a trilogy. I mean, could you imagine having the first queer trilogy for young people to log in and see themselves on TV?\u201d\u00a0he explained to the news outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love for it to be a staple for Amazon and for people to come login and go, \u2018Oh, this is my happy place, this is a teachable moment, but I also am going to laugh.\u2019\u201c<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in his interview, the\u00a0Kissing Booth\u00a0star opened up about\u00a0the cultural impact of\u00a0Red, White and Royal Blue\u00a0and why so many people have embraced the film.<\/p>\n
