Uma Thurman, the reigning President of the United States, has confirmed that she will return for the upcoming sequel to\u00a0Red, White & Royal Blue.<\/p>\n

Promoting her new film\u00a0The Old Guard 2, the icon played a game of \u201cGuess Your Movie\u201d with Letterboxd, where she gushed about her love for Prime Video\u2019s acclaimed LGBTQIA+ rom-com.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a really fun role,\u201d Thurman said of Ellen Claremont-Diaz, the president and mother of\u00a0Taylor Zakhar Perez\u2019s co-lead, Alex. She went on to reveal that she shot\u00a0Red, White & Royal Blue\u00a0\u201cin between\u201d\u00a0The Old Guard 2\u00a0due to complications with her health.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat movie was a joy. I worked with my dialect maestro, Tim Monich, to do one of my fun dialect characters,\u201d she explained, referencing the Southern drawl she adopted for Ellen. \u201cSome people tease me [about the accent], but I like playing fun characters!\u201d<\/p>\n

Thurman continued to share how much she \u201cloved\u201d Ellen, particularly in an alternate political timeline where a liberal woman was President of the United States, calling it an \u201calternative, better world\u201d.<\/p>\n

When asked if she\u2019ll return for the upcoming sequel, which was confirmed by Prime Video in May 2024, Thurman answered: \u201cWhen it\u2019s ready, I\u00a0will\u00a0do it. We don\u2019t know what Ellen will be up to, but she\u2019ll be up to something!\u201d<\/p>\n

Red, White & Royal Blue 2\u00a0will also see the return of Zakhar Perez as Alex and\u00a0Nicholas Galitzine\u00a0as Prince Henry.<\/p>\n

While details about the plot and its release date remain scarce,\u00a0Casey McQuiston\u00a0\u2013 author of the original book and co-screenwriter for the sequel \u2013 shared a general overview of what fans can expect in an interview with\u00a0Yahoo! Entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sequel is a glimpse into Alex and Henry\u2019s life after the confetti has finished falling from the first movie, and you have to move forward together as two adults in a real, serious adult partnership,\u201d McQuiston explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith pressures and expectations and dreams that might be coming into conflict with each other, and things that might be pulling them and pushing them in different directions and how they navigate that together. So as vaguely as possible, that\u2019s what I\u2019m allowed to say.\u201d<\/p>\n

The author also revealed that they have been hard at work on the script with Matthew L\u00f3pez, who directed the first film, adding: \u201cAnd I\u2019ve spoken to a lot of the cast about the sequel, and that they\u2019re all so excited about it, and about hopefully moving forward with the next steps.\u201d<\/p>\n
