Attention\u00a0Red, White & Royal Blue\u00a0fans! A massive new update for the highly anticipated sequel has arrived.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with\u00a0Variety, Arrow\u00a0creator Greg Berlanti was questioned on the status of the follow-up, which was\u00a0officially confirmed earlier this year.<\/p>\n

While he remained mum on the plot for the forthcoming film, he confirmed that director Matthew L\u00f3pez and author Casey McQuiston \u2013\u00a0who wrote the original novel \u2013\u00a0were nearly done with the script.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s so great is that it feels like the natural next step in the journey of these characters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Red, White & Royal Blue\u00a0captivated LGBTQIA+ fans in August 2023 after its release on Prime Video.<\/p>\n

Starring Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz and Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry, the movie follows the passionate enemies-to-lovers romance between the charismatic son of America\u2019s first female president (Uma Thurman) and a dashing British prince.<\/p>\n

The film also stars Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, Ellie Bamber, Thomas Flynn, Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D Clarke, Aneesh Sheth and Juan Castano.<\/p>\n

Upon its release, the romantic comedy received universal acclaim for its faithfulness to the source material and the electric chemistry between Zakhar-Perez and Galitzine.<\/p>\n

In addition to rave reviews,\u00a0Red, White & Royal Blue\u00a0received\u00a0numerous award nominations, including a\u00a0Primetime Emmy\u00a0nod for Outstanding Television Movie.<\/p>\n

In May, following months of fan outcry and speculation, Prime Video, L\u00f3pez and McQuiston broke the internet when they announced that a sequel was on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes, there\u2019s gonna be a sequel,\u201d the American playwright exclaimed during a fan screening.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Along For The Ride\u00a0<\/span><\/em>author added, \u201cMatthew and I are writing it together. That\u2019s all we can say.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

During an August panel discussion for\u00a0<\/span>Deadline\u2019s Contenders TV: The Nominees<\/span><\/em>, L\u00f3pez gave insight into his and McQuiston\u2019s creative process.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we were starting this process, I kept saying that we\u2019ll have to succeed at this adaptation\u2026. if you feel the same way at the end, as you felt finishing the book,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no book to guide us, but what we have is Casey\u2019s original thoughts and original ideas.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same interview, Perez expressed his excitement for the film and stepping back into the shoes of\u00a0<\/span>first<\/span>\u00a0son\u00a0<\/span>Alex<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe just has an endless waterfall of optimism rushing over him at all times, and he has just nonstop positivity,\u201d he gushed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I think I\u2019m excited to bring that back to the screen. And I think [with the] state of the world right now, we could use a little bit more of that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
